Tackling Tobacco

Kentucky’s Tobacco Quitline announces the launch of the TACKLING TOBACCO Player of the Week campaign to honor the best high school football players in the Commonwealth.  Each week of the 2010 football season, players, fans, family, and coaches can nominate a deserving player for the TACKLING TOBACCO Player of the Week honor.  Fans from across the state will vote for the weekly winner.  The winner will be announced each Friday.

The process begins with the first football game of the season on August 27.  Fans can nominate a deserving player at www.TheSportsFlash.com.  Nominations are accepted until noon on Monday.  “The Sports Flash” (TSF) Radio Network will announce the weekly nominees on Monday afternoon.  Visitors to the site will find a brief description of the student-athletes accomplishments on the playing field.  Fans from across the state will have the opportunity to vote for the weekly winner until 8:00 P.M. EDT on Thursday.  The weekly winner will be announced on Friday.  Each weekly winner will be eligible for the TACKLING TOBACCO Player of the Year honor.

“Once players are nominated, their fans get the word out in their school and community and encourage others to vote,” explains Mike Sinnott, president of “The Sports Flash” Radio Network.  “This is a great opportunity for the community to come together and recognize talented local athletes.”

TACKLING TOBACCO Player of the Week is sponsored by Kentucky’s Tobacco Quitline, which provides assistance to Kentuckians 15 years of age and older who want to break their addiction to tobacco.

“The nominees have worked hard on the field to ensure their team’s success,”  Sinnott says.  “Kentucky’s Tobacco Quitline works just as hard to ensure success for those wanting to quit using tobacco products.”
