MARTIN COUNTY HEALTH DEPARTMENT

LOCAL HEALTH NURSE II

The Martin County Health Department is accepting applications for a full-time Local Health Nurse II.

General Duties include: This position serves under the direction of the Nurse Supervisor. Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to; Perform work with increasing independence and may assume minimal mentoring of LHN I nurses. Provide nursing care and assessment to the client consistent with the Public Health Practice Reference (PHPR), Nursing Scope and Standards of Practice. Develop and implement a plan of care based upon identified health risks. Document services provided to the client. Stay updated with policies, procedures and licensing laws. Maintain confidentiality and privacy according to guidelines. Understand the team process and apply problem solving strategies to accomplish job tasks. Participate in specialized or program specific clinics. Participate in employee orientation and training. Develop and conduct educational counseling and teaching activities for individual clients and families. May serve as a coordinator of a specific program.

Minimum Education, Training or Experience: Must have RN license in Kentucky or compact state and one (1) year of Registered Nurse (RN) experience.

Substitution for Education, Training or Experience: BSN or Masters Degree in Nursing, Nursing Administration, Nursing Education or Public Health may substitute for one (1) year of experience.

Starting Salary: $14.78 – $18.61/hr negotiable with additional experience. Grade 18

If there are no qualified applicants for the Local Health Nurse II classification, the position may be filled from a Local Health Nurse I register.

Local Health Nurse I- General Duties include: This position serves under the direction of the Nurse Supervisor. Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to; Provide basic entry level nursing care and assessments to the client consistent with the Public Health Practice Reference, Nursing Scope and Standards of Practice. Establish policies, procedures and licensing laws. Document services provided to the client according to standards of the PHPR and Administrative Reference (AR). Maintain confidentiality and privacy according to guidelines. Develop and conduct educational counseling and teaching activities for individual clients and families. Utilize basic awareness of community resources and complete required trainings.

Minimum Education, Training or Experience: Must have RN license in Kentucky or compact state or provisional license in Kentucky, meeting all requirements of KRS 314.041 and approval to practice as Registered Nurse Applicant (RNA).

Starting Salary: $14.07 – $17.56/hr negotiable with additional experience. Grade 15
